Privacy Policy

Ready Set Remember (“the app”) is built to respect your family’s privacy. This policy explains what the app does and does not do with your information.

The short version

Everything you create — avatars, item lists, routines, stars, rewards and photos — stays on your device, or in your own iCloud if you link a second device. There are no accounts, no ads and no tracking, we do not build a profile of you or your family, and we cannot see your family’s data.

There are two things you control that go further than your own device:

• Linking devices. If you send routines to a child’s tablet or invite another grown-up, that information travels through your own iCloud account so those devices can see it. See Sharing between devices.
• Suggested lists. If you tap Suggest to have a packing list generated, the name of that activity is sent to our service. Nothing else goes with it. See Suggested packing lists.

What’s stored, and where

The app keeps the following:

• Avatars you create (name, appearance) and their item checklists
• Routines and reward items you set up, and stars earned or spent
• Photos taken when a routine is finished, and the record of what was finished and when

On a single device with no others linked, all of that stays on that device and is never uploaded. If you link a device, it also travels through your own iCloud — see Sharing between devices below.

Deleting the app removes the copy on that device. The app’s Delete all data option erases it there too, including photos, and removes what that device has put into iCloud.

Sharing between devices (optional)

The app can put a child’s routines on their own tablet, and let a second grown-up follow along from their phone. This only happens when you choose to link a device by showing or sending a code — it is never automatic, and the app is fully usable on one device without it.

When you do link a device, the following is stored in your own iCloud account so the linked devices can read it:

• Avatar names and appearances
• Routines, the items in them, and any reminder times
• A record of each routine finished — when, and how many stars it earned
• Rewards you have set up, and rewards a child has spent stars on
• Photos taken when a routine is finished, so a grown-up can see them on their own phone

This uses Apple’s iCloud (CloudKit) and your own iCloud storage. It does not pass through our servers, and we have no access to it. Only the devices you have linked can read it. Anyone you send a linking code to can join, so send codes only to people you intend to share with.

You can stop sharing at any time: Sent routines in the app removes individual routines from a linked device, Leave family disconnects a device you joined, and Delete all data removes what that device put into iCloud.

Calendar access (optional)

If you choose to connect Apple Calendar, the app requests read-only access to your calendar events. This is used solely, and on your device, to match a routine to an event so it appears on the right day. The app does not modify your calendar, and your calendar data is not copied or stored anywhere else.

The one case where an event leaves your device is if you tap Suggest on a calendar-based routine — that sends the event’s title only, so a packing list can be generated for it. Nothing else about the event, and no other event, is sent. See Suggested packing lists.

You can use the app fully without granting calendar access, and you can revoke it at any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Calendars.

Camera and photos (optional)

If you choose to add a photo when a routine is completed, the app uses the camera or your photo library to obtain that single image. It is stored in the app’s private storage on that device, and — if you have linked another device — in your own iCloud, so a grown-up can see it on their phone. It may also appear in the notification telling them the routine was finished.

Photos are never sent to us, never used for anything else, and never shared beyond the devices you have linked unless you share one yourself using the share button. You can revoke camera access at any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Camera.

Suggested packing lists (optional)

The app can suggest what to pack for an activity. This only ever happens when you tap Suggest — it is never automatic, and the app is fully usable without it.

When you tap it, two things are sent to our service:

• the name of the activity — the routine name you typed, or the title of the calendar event you are packing for
• the names of items already in that list, so the suggestions don’t repeat what you have

That is all. Your avatars’ names, your photos, your stars and rewards, and the rest of your calendar are not sent, and never leave your device.

Our service passes the activity name to OpenAI, which generates the list and sends it back. We do not store the text you send or the list that comes back — it is used to answer that one request and then discarded. OpenAI processes it under their own API policy, available at openai.com/policies.

Nothing is added to your lists until you review the suggestions and choose to add them. You can edit or remove any of them first.

Children’s privacy

We do not collect personal information from anyone, including children. There are no accounts and no sign-up, and nothing about a child reaches us.

A child’s name, character, routines and completion photos are entered by a grown-up and stay under that grown-up’s control. If devices are linked, that information is held in the grown-up’s own iCloud account and is readable only by the devices they have linked — not by us. A grown-up can remove it at any time using Delete all data.

The optional suggestion feature sends only an activity name, which is not personal information and is not linked to any individual.

Third parties

The app contains no advertising, no analytics and no tracking software development kits. Two third parties are involved:

• Apple, whose iCloud stores and delivers your family’s data between the devices you link, under your own iCloud account and Apple’s privacy policy.
• OpenAI, and only when you use the optional suggestion feature described above.

Changes to this policy

If this policy ever changes, the updated version will be posted at this address with a new “last updated” date.
